Terms of Use

Last updated 16 October 2026

The short version: Phopt changes only what you choose, replaced originals wait in Recently Deleted (iPhone and iPad) or the trash (Android) for about 30 days, and the lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase handled by Apple or Google Play.

Who we are

Phopt (phopt.com) is operated by Serophin, ABN 88 280 015 794, PO Box 330, Annandale NSW 2038, Australia ("we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and Serophin whenever you use Phopt.

These terms apply to the Phopt app for iPhone and iPad, the Phopt app for Android, and this website. By using them you agree to these terms. On iPhone and iPad, the app is also licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; where the two differ, Apple's agreement applies to the app. On Android, your download and purchases are also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service.

Optimising photos and videos

Phopt makes smaller copies of the photos and videos you pick, using the preset or settings you choose. Making a smaller copy reduces resolution, quality, frame rate or other detail; how much depends on your choices, and the result is shown for you to compare before anything is replaced. Phopt replaces an original only when you ask it to and confirm. You are responsible for what you choose to replace.

Replaced originals go to the Recently Deleted album on iPhone and iPad, or to the system trash on Android, where they can be recovered for about 30 days; after that, or if you empty the album or the trash, they are gone for good, and neither we nor Phopt can bring them back. Please keep a backup of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Sizes and the space Phopt says you can save are estimates; the real saving depends on each photo and video, and the space returned is decided by iOS or Android and can differ, for example when iCloud Photos keeps optimized copies on the device, or when a backup app such as Google Photos keeps its own copies.

Free optimisations and the lifetime unlock

The app includes 100 free optimisations. The lifetime unlock is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that removes the limit for the Apple ID or Google account that bought it, with no subscription. On iPhone and iPad it is sold and billed by Apple, and on Android by Google Play; refunds are handled by Apple or Google Play under their own policies. You can restore the purchase on your other devices from the app's settings. A purchase made on one platform does not unlock the app on the other.

Acceptable use

Please do not misuse the app or this site, for example by trying to get around the free optimisation limit, reverse engineering the app where the law does not allow it, or using either for anything unlawful.
